Abstract
Beauty standards occur because the lack of diversity of women in media. Media only show certain kinds of women that are supposedly said to be beautiful. Teen girls start to unconsciously internalize these standards. Because the standards shown in commercials are impossible to achieve, all girls who base their self worth on appearance start to lose confidence.Confidence should be based on more positive things

Standarisasi kecantikan muncul akibat kurangnya keberagaman dalam representasi perempuan dalam media. Media hanya menggambarkan perempuan yang berpenampilan tertentu saja yang pantas disebut cantik. Remaja perempuan tanpa sadar mulai menginternalisasi standar-standar ini. Karena standar yang ditampilkan di iklan hampir mustahil dicapai, setiap remaja perempuan yang mendasarkan kepercayaan dirinya pada penampilannya, menjadi tidak percaya diri. Maka dibutuhkan sebuah gerakan untuk menggeser dasar kepercayaan diri remaja perempuan dari penampilannya, ke sesuatu yang lebih membangun
